The governor of Rivers, Nyesom Wike, has fulfilled his promise to the family of a lecturer who was killed in the state during the 2019 governorship election by releasing N200 million for the education of the children of the deceased.

Ferry Gberegbe, the lecturer who was also the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) governorship agent for Khana local government area, was killed in a violence that occurred during the poll.

A statement from the Rivers government said Governor Wike had announced a N200 million scholarship for the four children of the late Gberegbe.

The governor had also directed the widow of the deceased to open bank accounts for each of the four children.

The statement claimed that Ferry Gberegbe, who, until his death, lectured at the Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, was murdered by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) adding that his murder was captured live on social media.
