A bandit has been killed in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state after troops of Operation Whirl Punch launched an attack on their camps.
The troops consisting of a joint team of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Police, Department of State Services and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps also destroyed two camps belonging to the bandits in the area.
Channels TV reports that the deputy director, Army public relation for 1 Division, Colonel Ezindu Idimah, in a statement said the raid took place between Saturday, October 19, and Sunday, October 20.
Idimah said the troops embarked on the raid after credible information from well-meaning Nigerians on the bandits' activities.
He also said that recoveries including one AK47 rifle, three motorcycles, two mobile phones, and N5000 were recovered from the raid while victims were rescued from captivity.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that some Nigerian soldiers escaped after a self-planted bomb killed seven terrorists in Lamba'a forest, Borno state.
Some terrorists were also injured in the explosion even as troops of the Nigerian Army arrested fish smugglers in the area.
