Enugu airport: Buhari approves N10bn intervention fund

- President Buhari has approved N10 billion for the upgrade of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu

- The president said the aviation minister has given an assurance that the project will be speedily completed

- Buhari also reassured Nigerians that his administration would continue to prioritise investments in infrastructure in every part of the country

President Muhammadu Buhari says he has approved N10 billion for an intervention fund for the upgrade of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

The president made this known in a thread of tweets posted via his official Twitter handle, @MBuhari, on Thursday, October 17.

President Buhari added that the minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika, has assured him that the upgrade project would be completed in time and to the highest standards.

He added that his administration would continue to prioritise investments in infrastructure in every part of the country, notwithstanding the limited resources.

"Even as we have many items competing for our limited resources, we will continue to prioritize infrastructure investments in every part of the country. It is our responsibility to ensure Nigeria’s infrastructure is fixed; we will keep doing this," the president said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that southeast governors on Thursday, October 17, met with President Buhari at the State House Council Chambers, Abuja, in bid to get a swift completion of the Enugu International Airport.

The governors, on the platform of the southeast governors' forum, chaired by Dave Umayi of Ebonyi state, also appealed to President Buhari for the speedy repair of major roads in the geopolitical zone.
