Nurse graduates from NYU years after working there as a janitor

- A young man identified as Frank Baez has made himself and parents proud after graduating as a nurse at the same university he worked as a janitor

- Baez was a teenager when he started working as a janitor at New York University's Langone Tisch Hospital

- On October 14, at 29, he graduated from the same university as a nurse

All dreams are valid and if every dreamer worked hard enough, they can make it come true. A 29-year-old Frank Baez has achieved his goal to graduate as a nurse from the same university's teaching hospital where he worked as a janitor since he was a teenager.

Baez who graduated as a nurse on October 14, shared his story with ABC News and revealed that he could barely speak English when he moved to the United States with his mum from the Dominican Republic. He started working at New York University's Langone Tisch Hospital as a janitor."I could barely speak English at the time when I started working at NYU," said Baez

Baez said he always watched the nurses and longed to be like them. He then applied as a patient transporter, taking patients to and from their rooms for surgeries and tests, a promotion from his former job of cleaning patient rooms, bathrooms and hallways.

He however later left the job and decided to get a bachelor's degree at Hunter College and thus becoming the first person in his family to graduate from college.

Baez said he wanted to go back to where he started from and returned to work at NYU, it was there nurses advised him to go and apply for NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. ABC reports that he entered an accelerated program that allowed him to graduate with a nursing degree in just 15 months. After which, he graduated as a nurse.

Baez, who graduated with a 3.6 GPA, already set his next goal of becoming a critical care nurse in an intensive care unit.

Meanwhile, a young woman identified as Sharon Ifesan has celebrated becoming a registered nurse and registered midwife after graduating with a bachelor's degree in nursing sciences.

In a post shared on her Twitter page, Ifesan celebrated her latest achievement with photos of herself wearing nursing scrubs and a stethoscope around her neck.
