A 58-year-old Nigerian man in Bayelsa revealed what he goes through in his locality with a correspondent of Legit.ng. The man spoke briefly about how the gas flare is affecting their lives and how difficult things are in general.
In his interview with Legit.ng which took place in his house, the man stated that his eyes are getting bad by the day because of the fume from the gas flaring.
In addition to that, he complained about the bad water they consume as there is no clean source of water due to pollution.
The man had some young children around him during the interview; he explained that they are his children as he got blessed with fourteen of them. According to him, his eldest child is thirty years old while the youngest is about a year old.
The children he has are from two of his wives. He did not state the number of children each of the wives had for him. However, as at the time the interview was conducted, only one of them was seen around the house. He pointed to her at some point during his chat with Legit.ng.
The 58-year-old man revealed that he makes a living as a carpenter. However, his source of livelihood has not been yielding much as he cannot work now due to the flooded area and the gas flaring activities. He cried for help as he looked like he was becoming overwhelmed with the responsibilities of fending for his family.
He also mentioned that the building has had its fair share of the gas flaring action as he has changed the roof of his house twice since he built it.
