Kidnapping: Suspect says he used ransom from victims to educate his wife, build church, mosque

- A suspected kidnapper, Taofeek Lawal, reportedly confessing to kidnapping children in Lagos and Osogbo

- Lawal also said that he used ransoms collected from his victims to sponsor his wife's education

- The suspect was as arrested by members of the Gani Adams-led OPC in Ibadan but has been handed over to NSCDC for further investigation and prosecution

A suspected kidnapper, Taofeek Lawal, has reportedly made a mind-blowing confession regarding how he spent the proceeds of his criminal venture.

The suspect was arrested by members of the Gani Adams-led Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) on Tuesday, October 15, in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo state, Daily Trus reports.

Lawal reportedly confessed to the OPC members that ventured into kidnapping to sponsor his wife's education.

He said that he had kidnapped six children, adding that children between the ages of four and six years are his targets.

Lawal also reported;y confessed that he had sold his biological child to take care of his family.

“I have built two houses, a mosque and a church. I do take care of my family from what I do and my parents know about what I do,” the suspect was quoted to have said.

He said reportedly he had been caught five times in Lagos and Osogbo but a traditional ruler in Osibo, who always encouraged him, kept securing his release.

Babatunde Atiba, an OPC official, said the local security outfit went after the suspect after getting a hint from an unnamed woman.

Atiba said Lawal has been handed over to the Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Oyo state for further investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that unknown gunmen on Tuesday, October 15 invaded Malum community in Ardo-Kola local government area of Taraba state and kidnapped one Reverend Solomon Jediel.

The assailants contacted the family members shortly after and informed them to start saving money for his ransom.

Wife of the victim, Lucy Solomon, said the kidnappers shot sporadically into the air, shattered the windows to their house and beat up every member of the family.
