The crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) seems to be deepening as the meeting of the forum of the party’s 36 state chairmen and the secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha, reportedly ended in a deadlock.

Huge defeat for PDP as APC wins all seats in Kebbi LG elections

According to Daily Trust, the closed door meeting was convened to review the 10-day ultimatum given to the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, by the state chairmen, and it held in Abuja on Sunday night, October 13.

Legit.ng gathers that the Sunday review meeting took place as the ultimatum given to Oshiomhole to address the concerns of the state chairmen had elapsed.

The state chairmen had complained about the party’s poor reward system, the abandonment of its founding fathers, the neglect of the entire party structure, and the failure to produce a substantive national secretary after the exit of Mai Mala Buni, the present governor of Yobe state.

Following the end of Sunday’s meeting which was said to have lasted for hours, the state chairmen, however, refused to divulge details of the parley.

Though the chairmen wore a cheerful look as they escorted the SGF from the venue, they were unwilling to reveal the deal struck at the closed door meeting.

The refusal to convene a quarterly meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC), a decision making organ of the party, is also another issue worrying party stakeholders, as the last meeting was held 13 months ago.

The APC crisis is said to have worsened in various states, with Edo (where Oshiomhole hails from) and Katsina (where President Buhari hails from) being hit the hardest.

The crisis in Katsina is between Governor Aminu Masari and a group he called the “Abuja forces” which he said are using federal might and resources to undermine his administration.

In Edo state, the battle, which has tensed up the political atmosphere ahead of the 2020 governorship election, is between Governor Godwin Obaseki and Oshiomhole.

Oshiomhole is even alleged to be currently shopping for Obaseki’s replacement, ahead of the election in 2020.

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported an APC member stated that the days of Adams Oshiomhole being the chairman of the ruling party were numbered.

The APC member said that a fresh plot against Oshiomhole might see him lose his job as early as January 2020.

The unnamed party source disclosed that many APC governors had joined the 'Oshiomhole must go' bandwagon, but the APC chairman still had his job due to the intervention of the presidency.
