Son of late head of state Gen Aguiyi Ironsi dies at 54

- John Nnanyerem Aguiyi Ironsi, the second son of the late former head of state, General Johnson Thomas Aguiyi Ironsi, has died at the age of 54

- The death was confirmed by the head of the Ironsi family and former minister of state for defence, Thomas Aguiyi Ironsi

John Nnanyerem Aguiyi Ironsi, the second son of the late former head of state, General Johnson Thomas Aguiyi Ironsi, has died.

According to Daily Trust, the younger Ironsi passed away on Sunday, October 13 at the the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, Abia State, following a protracted illness. He was 54-years-old.

Legit.ng gathers that the death was confirmed by the head of the Ironsi family and former minister of state for defence, Thomas Aguiyi Ironsi, on Monday, October 14.

The deceased was born on January 14, 1965 and attended Government College, Umuahia, Abia state and College of Arts and Science, Zaria, Kaduna state, before proceeding to the USA for further studies.

Following his return to Nigeria, he held political positions as special adviser to two different governors of Abia state.

He leaves behind a wife and daughter.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the former governor of Edo state, Lucky Igbinedion, lost his second son and his nephew to the cold hands of death in an accident in Texas.

Family sources revealed that the governor's son, Osaretin Igbinedion and nephew, Esosa Oyemwense, were involved in a ghastly car accident.

The car they were in was said to have ran into an 18 wheeler.
