Chile manager Reinaldo Rueda has confirmed Inter Milan forward Alexis Sanchez will be out for close to three months.

The 30-year-old forward picked an ankle injury in his side's goalless draw against Colombia in one of the friendly games played over the weekend.

Sanchez, who is currently on loan at the Italian club from Manchester United saw 88 minutes of action for La Roja before being replaced with Felipe Mora two minutes to final whistle.

"He could end up under the knife," Rueda told a news conference. "Inter, his club, will decide. We could lose him for two or three months.

"It's a shame because he had started playing again with Inter and scored two goals, while also playing in the Champions League.

"He was happy and super motivated. Now we have to wait for these decisive hours."

Sanchez has a goal and an assist for Inter Milan in all competitions since he joined them from Red Devils this summer. earlier reported that Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte is gunning to sign another Manchester United star Nemanja Matic on a free transfer next summer.

The 31-year-old Serbian midfielder has a deal with the Red Devils until June 2020 - although with an option to extend his stay at old Trafford by one more year.
