The All Progressives Congress (APC) condemned the attack on the residence of its national chairman by hoodlums on Saturday, October 12.
Nigerian Television Authority reported on Sunday, October 13 that the APC blamed the attack on political thugs.
The statement signed by the party's spokesperson, Lanre Issa-Onilu, urged the Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu and other security agencies to investigate the attack.
While the party applauded Oshiomhole after calling for calm among party supporters, the party said the mastermind of the attack and the assailants themselves must be brought to justice.
The party noted that everybody should be to move about the country freely, particularly in Edo state where the attack happened.
The party said residents of the south-south state or any other part of Nigeria should not be subjected to harassment, intimidation, threat to life and property.
The party claimed that those who organised the attack wanted to cause crisis in the in the bid to achieve their selfish interests and unpopular political goals.
Legit.ng had reported that Oshiomhole's home in Benin, the Edo state capital, was attacked by suspected hoodlums late on Saturday who were repelled by youths and security agents.
The attackers reportedly stormed the house at Okorotun Street in the Government Reservation Area, Benin when Oshiomhole was attending a friend's party.
Simon Ebegbulem, Oshiomhole's media aide, blamed the attack on miscreants sent by the state governor Godwin Obaseki.
He said the attack was all part of the plan to threaten those who are against the governor’s second term bid in the state.
