A former deputy governor of Bayelsa, Ebebi Peremobowei, who was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has defected from the party and has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Peremobowei said that he made the hard decision of defecting from the PDP after experiencing a many instances of disregard and disrespect for due process entrenched in the PDP constitution and electoral guidelines, The Nation reports.
The deputy former governor, who was also once a former speaker of the state House of Assembly also accused the leadership of the PDP in Bayelsa of high-handedness and desperation.
Peremobowei said: “I have come to this hard decision after experiencing...disregard and disrespect for due process as entrenched in the PDP constitution and electoral guidelines, high-handedness and desperation of the party’s leadership."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the APC governorship candidate in the forthcoming election, David Lyon, had said that the party would soon take over the government of the state.
Lyon boasted that the APC would win the November 16 gubernatorial election by a landslide victory.
