Manchester United have reportedly opened talks with Spanish champions Barcelona on the possibility of signing Croatia international Ivan Rakitic when the transfer opens.
This season, Ivan Rakitic has found active playing time difficult at Barcelona playing 186 minutes so far and starting only a game.
Before the close of the last transfer window, Manchester United were interested in signing Ivan Rakitic, but the Catalan giants refused to let him leave.
And according to Sport, Manchester United have approached Barcelona and have began initial negotiations with the Spanish giants.

The report added that Barcelona will be willing to sell the 31-year-old only if Manchester United can pay the sum of £34 million.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are not the only side interested in signing Ivan Rakitic as Inter Milan are also reported to be monitoring him.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have not been impressive this season in all competitions which has put the Norwegian in serious tension.
