President Muhammadu Buhari said that all looted assets recovered from corrupt public officials will be sold and that the proceeds from the sale will be injected back into the Treasury Single Account.
The president said this as received members of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) who paid him a visit at State House, Abuja, on Thursday, October 10, Channels TV reports.
He said that the era of returning looted public properties to those who stole them when a government is changed is over.
Confident of the willingness and ability of the PACAC to flush out corruption in high places, he president said: “Let’s see who will now take back the money from the treasury, and give back to those people, as was done in the past.”
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences (ICPC), had called for the joint efforts of security and law enforcement agencies in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
ICPC's chairman, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, made the call during his visit to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammed Adamu.
