- Lionel Messi has admitted that he was not happy when Ronaldo left Real Madrid to Juventus
- The Barcelona talisman and the Portuguese superstar have been rivals in the last decade
- Messi also claimed he is not concerned about winning the Ballon D'Or for a record sixth time
Lionel Messi has admitted that he wanted his rival Cristiano Ronaldo to stay in Spain with Real Madrid.
Both superstars have won ten Ballon d'Or awards between them in a rivalry that has lasted for over a decade.
The Argentine and the Portuguese were always the focus in the El Clasico for nine years but since Ronaldo left Los Blancos for Juventus in 2018, it has been a different story.

And Messi is regretting Real Madrid let his closest competitor leave and admits Ronaldo always added spice to any match they come across each other.
“I wanted him to continue with Real Madrid,” Messi told RAC1. “He gave a plus to the rivalry in the Clasico and La Liga.
“Real Madrid will continue to challenge because they have very good players, but I already said that the team was going to feel his loss for what he meant and that the squad would notice. But they have plenty of players to allow them to fight for every title and they have a lot of history.”
Messi added that he is not concerned about winning a record sixth Ballon d’Or, which would edge him ahead of Ronaldo..
“It wouldn’t be a disappointment not to win it,” he said. “These awards are nice recognition, but for me they were never a priority, I would be more disappointed to spend another year without winning the Champions League - it's been five years since we’ve done it.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez both went to church before top-of-the-table-clash between Juventus and Inter Milan.
The couple were seen on casuals with Ronaldo wearing a jeans short on a jacket while his partner was putting on a Kappa tracksuit.
