- Victor Osimhen has been superb for Lille since he joined them this summer
- The 20-year-old has scored eight goals across all competition so far this campaign
- Lille sporting director Luis Campos likened the striker to a 'cat'
Nigerian star Victor Osimhen joined Ligue 1 side Lille from Sporting Charleroi in a five year deal worth €12 million this summer.
The 20-year-old became an instant hit for Les Dogues - scoring eight goals and two assists in all competitions so far this campaign.
He scored the only goal in his side's 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in their Champions League clash earlier this week.
The club's sporting director Luis Campos has however likened the Super Eagles star to a 'cat' after revealing that the player has been on his radar for the last four years.
It would be recalled that Osimhen inspired the Golden Eaglets to win their fifth FIFA U17 World Cup in 2015 - winning the golden boot after scoring 10 goals and two assists. He also won the competition's silver boot after an impressive performance.
"I went to Lagos to see the U17 World Championships. After one match I wanted him. But his price was very expensive for a 17-year-old.
"I spoke to my CEO. I called him every night saying, 'Please give me this player, he is amazing. In two years he will be one of the best in Europe," Campos told Sky Sports.
Although, the striker got his club career in Europe off to a slow start at Wolfsburg, making just 14 appearances during his two year reign at the club.
He spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Sporting Charleroi - scoring 19 goals in 34 matches and his performance earned him a permanent deal with the Belgian club.
Meanwhile, just before settling down at the club, he moved to France where he got his reign off to a bright start.
"In the end the player went to Wolfsburg. I went to Wolfsburg just to see him play. Sometimes he only played for five minutes, sometimes only two.
"I was crazy for him! Then he had a virus and had five or six months not playing and went to Charleroi in Belgium. Two months later I signed him. So itʼs a nice story. I lost the player but then got him back.

"If all is normal at the end of the season there will be a big move for him because he's like a cat. You know, if you have a cat and give it a ball! Heʼs unbelievable. In the last 20 metres he attacks every ball. Every ball. Like a cat."
Osimhen would be in action for Nigeria when they battle Brazil in an international friendly match on Sunday, October 13.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen was on target for his Ligue 1 side Lille in their 2-2 draw against Nimes last weekend.
The Super Eagles forward increased his goal tally in the French League to seven after nine round of matches.
