Buhari’s minister, director design hardware that launches Nigeria into world space

- A hardware, UnityBoard, launches Nigeria into the world's advanced technology register

- The hardware was designed by the minister of communications, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, and Agu Collins Agu, director at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)

- It is believed that the hardware will help to boost the educational development of Nigerian school pupils

A hardware jointly designed by Nigeria’s minister of communications, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, and Agu Collins Agu, a director at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has launched the country into the world space.

Legit.ng understands that NITDA launched Nigeria into the world’s advanced technology register with the hardware named ‘UnityBoard’ at the ongoing GITEX technology week in Dubai.

Daily Trust reports that the device was designed and produced in two years and through it, pupils in primary school can be taught the act of artificial intelligence as well as ‘internet of things’.

“The hardware will embed problem-solving capability through creative thinking and problem-based learning methods, especially at an early age.

“It will also accelerate local content development and indigenization of technology through human capital development in emerging technologies,” Agu said in an interview.

Agu added that the device is a creative medium for advancing teaching and learning.

He said the device was specifically designed as ‘hands-on’ learning tool to help the new generation of students build skills for the creative and digital economy through critical thinking.

“When students are free to invent and create, they begin to see technology as a means for solving real-world problems,” the NITDA director said.

While noting that introducing it early in children’s education would help Nigeria, he added: “Technological revolution is currently ongoing in the country and it is just a matter of time that Nigeria’s economy will witness dramatic development and growth like those of advanced economies.”
