I’ll reclaim my mandate - Former Bauchi governor

- Former governor Muhammad Abubakar has promised to reclaim his mandate as governor of Bauchi state

- Abubakar made the disclosure after the judgement of the Bauchi state governorship tribunal upholding the election of Bala Mohammed as governor of the state

- According to Abubakar, he will be appealing the tribunal's judgement alongside his party the APC

A former governor of Bauchi state, Muhammed Abubakar, has reacted to the ruling of the state's governorship election tribunal on Tuesday, October 8.

Abubakar shortly after the ruling said he is rest assured that his mandate to become the governor of Bauchi state will be reclaimed.

The former governor in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Ali Muhammad said: “We are appealing the judgment. Already our lawyers have been instructed to file an appeal after studying it.”

Daily Trust reports that the former governor together with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state have said that they will appeal the judgement of the tribunal on the election results.

Speaking on the judgement, the APC chairman for Bauchi state chapter, Uba Nana, called on all members of the party and supporters of Abubakar to remain calm and law-abiding.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Bauchi state governorship election tribunal on Monday, October 7, upheld the election of Bala Mohammed as the governor of the state.

The tribunal in its ruling said that the petition brought before it by the APC against the Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate lacked merit.
