A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano on Tuesday, October 8 ordered the remand of a lecturer, Ali Shehu, in prison.
The lecturer was remanded for breach of trust and sexually harassing his female student.
Shehu, 36, a lecturer in the Kano State School of Technology, is facing trial on a two-count charge of breach of official trust and attempt to commit an offence.
Vanguard reports that Chief Magistrate Muhammad Idris ordered the remand of the accused person and adjourned the matter till Tuesday, October 15.
The accused was apprehended by a Kano state government agency in charge of public complaints.
He was said to have taken one of his female students to a plaza in the Kano metropolis to help him in marking the final semester exams, but sexually harassed her.
Shehu has since pleaded guilty to the charge against him and it is expected that he would be sentenced.
