2 policemen kidnapped in Rivers by gunmen

- Gunmen have kidnapped two policemen in Rivers state

- The true identities of the police officers are still unknown as at the time of this report

- Meanwhile, the police have confirmed the kidnapping

Two officers of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Rivers state command have been abducted by gunmen at Ngor, Headquarters of Andoni local government area of Rivers state.

Reports say the officers were abducted on Monday, October 7, and whisked to an unknown location.

As at the time of this report, the true identities of the police officers were yet to be ascertained.

While confirming the abduction, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers state police command’s spokesperson refused to give a comprehensive detail of the abduction but promised to give the details and circumstances surrounding the abduction later.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that in Zamfara state, nine soldiers were reportedly killed by unknown gunmen on Thursday, October 3, at Sunke village in Anka local government area of Zamfara state.

Sunke community is 30 km south of Anka town, the local government headquarters.

The gunmen reportedly arrived on motorcycles and started firing at soldiers and policemen. According to report, it was a reprisal attack on the earlier killing of bandits by soldiers.

The attack came few days after it was reported that hundreds of gunmen crossed through Anka and Maru local government area in Zamfara state.

According to report, the gunmen in their hundreds were all dressed in Nigerian military uniform. Sources within the local government areas claimed that the bandits numbering over 500 moved in a convoy around communities.
