President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, October 8, told a joint session of the National Assembly that he had a cold because he was working hard.
The president who said this during the presentation of the 2020 budget noted that he had to work hard to meet the lawmakers' deadline.
"I will start by asking you to pardon my voice. As you can hear, I have a cold as a result of working hard to meet your deadline!" the president said before proceeding to deliver his speech.
President Buhari is known for making humorous remarks. In May, President Buhari said he could see that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, was working because he was losing weight.
Asked by a reporter if Nigerians would see a different approach in the way the security agencies were addressing the country's challenges, the president said: “You know, I have just seen the IG, he is… I think he is losing weight; so, I think he is working very hard.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Buhari said that the country’s wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few Nigerians.
The president said this on Monday, October 7, at the opening session of the 25th Nigeria Economic Summit (NES#25) in Abuja.
Buhari said the country’s wealth is only controlled by 4 or 5 states, living the rest to languish in poverty.
According to him, policies are in place following the successful 2019 general elections to bring prosperity to a lot of Nigerians.
He gave an assurance that security is being enhanced and corruption being eliminated so that the country can witness improvement.
