President Muhammadu Buhari, during his 2020 budget presentation at the National Assembly in Abuja on Tuesday, October 8, ordered the stoppage of salaries of workers not captured in the Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) platform.
President Buhari said that the presidency has issued an order to all agencies not to pay the October salary of any federal government worker who fails to be included in the system before the end of the month, Channels TV reports.
The president said: “I have directed the stoppage of the salary of any Federal Government staff that is not captured on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) platform by the end of October 2019.”
He also stated that this will also help the federal government in its management of personnel cost in the civil service.
Moreover, President Buhari said that henceforth agencies must obtain approval from the federal government before embarking on fresh recruitment of applicants, and that failure to do this will lead to serious sanctions.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the federal government had approved the promotion of 2,932 senior civil servants who took part in the 2018 directorate level promotion exercise.
This came after the agency responsible for the promotion, Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) concluded the exercise in July 2018.
