Ese Brume made history as the second ever Nigerian athlete to win medal at the World Athletics Championship in Qatar.

The 23-year-old won bronze medal in the women's long jump event at the championship in a ten day event this month.

She jumped a distance of 6.91 meters to become the first Nigerian athlete after Blessing Okagbare in the 2013 edition of the events.

On the back of the feat, Brume was given a heroic welcome on her return to school by Eastern Mediterranean University students.

They waited for her outside the airport arrival lounge with banners captioned: "We are proud of you."

While reacting to the crowd who came to welcome her, Brume said: "This is amazing, thank you so much, I appreciate you, I love you all."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigeria's Ese Brume jumped her way into glory at the 2019 World Athletics Champions in Doha, Qatar, after winning the country's only medal so far at the events.

The 23-year-old won bronze medal in the Women’s Long Jump event after covering a distance of 6.91 meters in the finals.

She however became the second Nigerian athlete after Blessing Okagbare to win silverware at the World events since 2013.
