The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the attack on former president Goodluck Jonathan by the ruling party over the allegation made by an ex-British prime minister David Cameron as a desperate act by the party to divert public attention on disturbing issues.

The PDP said the attack by the All Progressives Congress on Jonathan was orchestrated to divert Nigerians attention from the recent revelations of fraud allegations against relatives and confidants of President Muhammadu Buhari.

A statement by the opposition party's national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, said the PDP is aware of the move to suppress investigations and deflect public interest in the deportation and alleged international passport scam involving an ally of the president, Nasir Danu.

Ologbodiyan said the APC-led administration already knows that an inquest will further expose the huge rot in the Buhari Presidency and so is doing all it takes to make sure an investigation is stalled.

The PDP further urged President Buhari-administration to quit the plans of distorting issues as it pertains the Goodluck Jonathan's tenure and demand an investigation into the Danu allegation through which billions of naira meant for the wellbeing of Nigerians are allegedly being diverted to private purses

"The PDP notes that this is beside allegations of being a front for scandalous contracts running into billions of naira from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, among other government agencies," Ologbodiyan said.
