I’m being undermined by APC forces in Abuja, says Gov Masari

- Katsina state governor has raised the alarm over plots to undermine his administration

- The governor said those behind the plot are Abuja-based politicians from the state

- Governor Masari also accused the party chieftains of using federal money to fight his administration

Katsina governor Aminu Masari has alleged that some Abuja-based All Progressives Congress (APC) members from the state are using federal government resources to undermine the party and his administration.

Governor Masari made the allegation at a stakeholders’ meeting attended by all the 34 local government chairmen and executives of the party in the state.

He said APC as a party needed a total overhaul, adding that lack of discipline within the party may lead to its extinction.

Daily Trust quoted the governor as saying: “The state chapter of the APC and the administration were dragged to court against the party’s laid down rules and regulations which stipulate expulsion for anyone who does so. We were dragged up to the Supreme Court twice.

“Federal government money was used to fight us and that is what is being used still to fight us because we are aware of what is happening. We are here, some of those that lost the primary election in 2015 have not set their feet in Katsina state since.

“We won’t allow them to use that as an opportunity to cause disruption in our state politically or administratively.”

The governor also said the same people colluded with the PDP during his case at the election petition tribunal with a view to upturning his victory.

Earlier, the Katsina South zonal chairman of the party, Bala Abubakar, said the party has uncovered how the Abuja-based politicians have become moles and were supporting the opposition party, PDP, to fight Masari's

He said the party leaders have resolved to expel them from the APC.

It is not clear who the governor was referring to in his comments.

But, it is a known fact that Governor Masari has been battling very powerful forces in Katsina politics since 2015.

Sources say this might be the governor's way of calling to attention the battles he has been facing since he assumed office in 2015.

Meanwhile, a recent media report indicates that some powerful persons in Aso Rock are united in their bid to frustrate Osinbajo ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Sources quoted in the reports say members of the cabal have recruited former government officials to facilitate their plot.
