Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen continued his decent run in French Ligue 1 after netting the second goal in Lille’s 2-2 draw against Nimes on Sunday afternoon, October 6, at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.
The performance means the former Golden Eaglets forward has scored seventh the Ligue 1 goal this term, eighth across all competitions after netting in Lille’s Champions League defeat by Chelsea on Wednesday, October 2.
Ahead of kick-off, the Nigerian international was presented with Lille’s player of the month award for September, to the admiration of fans in the stands.
Loic Remy netted the opener for Lille after 12 minute of the contest, but Nimes equalized in the added time of the first half through Renaud Ripart’s spot-kick, to see scores even going into the break.
After the restart, the away side netted their second goal three minutes to the hour mark, with Denkey finishing off a decent cross from Ripart.
Nimes were looking good to claim maximum points, with time running out, but Osimhen cancelled the deficit for Lille on the 80th minute mark, to see both sides share the spoils at the blast of the final whistle.
Interestingly, the result sees Lille on the fifth spot with 15 points, six adrift of Ligue 1 leaders PSG, while Nimes are placed 14th with nine points.
