Brother kidnaps sister, collected N4m ransom from parent in Taraba

- The Taraba police have arrested 22-year-old AbdulBasit Umar for allegedly kidnapping his own sister

- Umar was assisted in the kidnap by Abdullahi Habib and Sadiq Dalhatu

- They demanded for N10m but the family negotiated it to N4m

A 22-year-old man AbdulBasit Umar has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping his own biological sister in Taraba state.

According to the police, Umar a 200 level Geology student of Modibbo Adama University Yolawho who demanded N10m ransom was aided by 21- year-old Abdullahi Habib a student of Adamawa State University Mubi and 27-year-old Sadiq Dalhatu.

The criminals reportedly lured 10 year- old Amina Umar into a saloon car and took her to Dove Hotel at Mayo Dassa in Jalingo where they held her captive, Daily Trust reports.

According t the police who paraded the kidnappers along with 19 other suspected kidnappers and armed robbers in the state, the criminals later contacted the parents of the girl and demanded N10 million ransom.

However, the parents were able to negotiate the amount to N4 million

The police also claimed they were able to arrest the alleged kidnappers when tracked the telephone number the suspects were using in demanding the ransom.

When questioned, AbdulBasit Umar told journalists that his intention was to use the ransom money to travel abroad.

Meanwhile, recall that Legit.ng had reported that Nigeria suffered another disaster when gunmen stormed a private secondary school in Kaduna state and kidnapped six school girls and two teachers.

According to the school’s bursar, Elvis Allah-Yaro, the criminals stormed Engravers College, a mixed-gender school in Sabo, Chikun local government area, at about 12:10 a.m on Thursday, October 3.
