Unai Emery, Arsenal boss, has revealed the main reason why Mesut Ozil cannot be listed in Arsenal current squad after latest snub.

According to the Mirror report, the Spaniard, who is keen to offer more reasons for Ozil’s blackout believes there are other squad members in better shape to play than the German star.

Interestingly, Ozi is presently the Gunners' highest player, but has featured only once across all competitions this campaign.

The 30-year-old play-maker was also missing from Arsenal squad that claimed a 4-0 win in the Europa League on Thursday night, October 3, at the Emirates.

However, other midfielders Dani Ceballos and Joe Willock registered their names on the score sheet, with Emery claiming he made the right decision to play other players.

The former PSG boss did not end the conversation without urging Ozil to continue working hard to break into his squad ahead of the remainder of the season.

Emery said: “I am thinking every time to decide with the best players for each match and the best players in the squad to play and help us.

“When I decided he isn't in the squad, it is because I think another player deserves it more.

"Sunday we have another match. And we are going to decide the same.

"The best first 11 possible to achieve our target to win on Sunday and also adapt to that difficult of playing Bournemouth. And carry on our way that is the same in each match.”

Arsenal battle Bournemouth next on Sunday, October 6, at the Emirates as they continue their quest to return to winning ways after Monday’s 1-1 draw with Man United at Old Trafford.
