Nigerian actress, Genevieve Nnaji, recently expressed her gratitude to fans after her blockbuster movie, Lionheart, was selected as the one to represent the country at Academy Awards (Oscars) in the year 2020. earlier reported that Lionheart was presented as the movie selected by the Nigerian Oscars Selection Committee (NOSC) for consideration under the International Feature Film category of the Oscars in year 2020.

Interestingly, Lionheart is the first Nigerian movie to be selected by the committee for consideration by the Oscars and Genevieve has expressed her gratitude at this great feat.

In an Instagram post, she wrote: "The Nigerian Oscar Selection Committee has chosen @lionheartthemovie to represent Nigeria for the 2020 Academy Award for Best International Film! This is the first entry ever for Nigeria. It’s an honor to be a part of such a pivotal moment in the history of Nigerian cinema. A moment we know will be replicated as our stories continue to resonate with audiences around the world. In other news, reported that after the news of Lionheart making it for Oscars consideration, some Nigerians on social media compared it with another blockbuster movie by Kemi Adetiba titled King of Boys.

While some Nigerians are of the opinion that Lionheart is an overhyped movie, others disagree.

Some other Nigerians also compared King of Boys to Lionheart as they feel the former should have more recognition and international appeal because according to them, it perfectly mirrored the Nigerian society.
