Liverpool got their Champions League title defence back on track following their 4-3 win over Austrian topflight side Red Bull Salzburg at Anfield on Wednesday night.

However, Mane needed just nine minutes to find the back of the net after combining well with Roberto Firmino in the opponent's 18-yard box before putting the ball into Cican Stankovic's net.

The 24-year-old scored a stunning goal to help the Austrian side cut down the Reds lead by one goal three minutes before the hour mark.

And on the hour mark, Erling Braut Haaland level parity for his side after stunning the Anfield side in front of their fans.

He connected well with Takumi Minamino's pass to ensure his side got a lifeline back in the game with just 30 minutes left to play in the game.

But Mo Salah, in conjunction with Firmino ensured the home team restored their lead one more time in the game.

The Egyptian goal king beat Salzburg defenders to fire home a close range shot and help his side win their first game on the continent.

It was also Salah's second goal of the game and of the European season having failed to score in their 2-0 defeat to Napoli on match day one.
