Nigerian man narrates experience with SARS officers who beat him up and extorted him

- A young Nigerian man has narrated how he was treated unfairly by SARS officers in Lagos state

- The man identified as Toni Astro revealed that he was beaten up by the officers

- Astro also said they extorted him off the little money he had in his account after threatening to imprison him

For a while now, the constant report of Special Anti-Robbery Squad treating common Nigerians unfairly seemed to have stopped, but a new account from a young Nigerian man makes one wonder if people just got tired of reporting the cases without getting any justice for the horrible experience.

A young Nigerian man identified as Toni Astro recently took to the popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter, to narrate his experience with some officers of Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Ketu area of Lagos state.

According to the young man, the officers had stopped him after he grabbed a bike to head home. He said they stopped the bike, forced him to get on another bike and took him to the station without telling him what he did wrong.

On getting to the station, Astro explained that the officers asked him to give them one million naira, but he revealed to them that he does not have that much, they asked for N500k and he gave them the same reply.

Astro said he told them he is a software engineer after they emptied his bag and brought out his laptop. He said they searched his laptop for his account balance and told him to withdraw the money for them.

He said they continued to threaten him with guns and even said they would transfer him to Kirikiri if he does not comply with their request. The young man told them the money was for his sick father's treatment but they refused to let him go.

In the end, Astro was forced to head to the Automated Teller Machine to withdraw the money for them and they let him go.
