Raheem Sterling: Xavi wants Man City winger if he becomes Barcelona manager

- Raheem Sterling could join Barcelona if Xavi is appointed manager

- The Spain legend has been tipped as one of the coaches to take over from Valverde

- Xavi currently manages Qatari football side Al Sadd where he won his first trophy as a coach this year

Barcelona legend Xavier Hernandez has named Manchester City star Raheem Sterling as the first player he will sign if he becomes the club manager.

The 39-year-old former midfielder who announced his retirement from active football kicked off his coaching career with Qatari football club Al Sadd.

He won his first title for the club after helping them clinch the 2019 Qatari Super Cup following a 1-0 win against Al-Duhail.

Xavi has been tipped as one of the very few to take over from embattled Ernesto Valverde whose side has only picked just ten points from six matches played already.

Although, it would be hard for City to allow their winger leave just a year after committing his future to the club until 2023.

The contract made him one of the biggest stars at the Etihad Stadium as he earns £300,000-a-week.

Meanwhile, the player was said to have hinted he is open to trying his luck elsewhere apart from England having won back-to-back Premier League titles with the club.

Real Madrid are also said to be interested in signing the 24-year-old, but with Xavi tipping Sterling to succeed Messi, the Catalans might end up winning the race to sign him.
