Joe Willock's first half strike alongside a goal each from Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the second half helped Arsenal thrash hosts Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 in their Europa League Group F opener on Thursday, September 19, at Commerzbank-Arena.

Both sides were making a return to the second tier Europa League after failing to seal a Champions League place in the 2018/19 campaign.

The Gunners were in fine form in the competition last season, reaching the finals in Baku, Azerbaijan, where they lost the title to rivals, Chelsea.

Unai Emery rung a couple of changes for the Germany trip from the side that drew 2-2 with Watford last weekend, with youngsters Joe Willock, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe all starting.

The youngsters repaid the faith at Commerzbank-Arena, as Saka and Willock combined perfectly to score Arsenal's opener in the 38th minute.

The match was largely even soon after, with the home side squandering a couple of goalscoring chances.

Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez had extra home-work to do, and had to be at his best to fend off attacking threats from Filip Kostic and Andre Silva.

Frankfurt however plummeted following Kohr's red card in the 79th minute, who was handed marching orders after picking up two yellow cards.

Aubameyang should have doubled the lead moments after the Kohr's exit, only for the Gabonese to miss a sitter.

Aubameyang however made up for his mistake in the 87th minute, extending Arsenal's lead just two minutes after Saka's stunner.

The Gunners' comfortable win now has them sitting on the summit of Group F, above Standard Liege who also beat Vitoria de Guimaraes in another group fixture.
