Chelsea star Mason Mount could return to his side's starting line up when they battle Liverpool in their Premier League crunch clash at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The England international lasted just 16 minutes in his Champions League debut on Tuesday, September 17, after suffering an ankle injury.

Former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin threw a terrible tackle at the player, who has found the back of the net three times for the Blues his debut season at the club.

SunSport however reports that early diagnosis revealed the midfielder suffered no significant damage after the tackle in their 1-0 defeat to Valencia.

The 20-year-old also made two appearances for the English national team earlier this month - all thanks to his massive contributions to his club's Premier League campaign so far.

Meanwhile, Ross Barkley, who lost a chance to help the Blues salvage a point from the game after losing late minute penalty in their game.

Barkley's spot kick was denied by the wood works as the Spanish League side ran off with a 1-0 victory after regulation period.

Barkley said that: “When I’m on the pitch, I’ll take the penalty. Obviously I didn’t execute it right but everybody misses penalties. I didn’t score the goal but I felt confident.

The 20-year-old Briton was helped off the pitch by the Blues medical team after being hacked down by former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin.

Although, it initially looked like the midfielder had shaken off the injury, he was however unable to continue the match moments later.
