Clarence Olafemi announces plan to dump PDP for APC

- A former acting governor of Kogi state, Clarence Olafemi, says he is considering defecting to the APC over injustices in the PDP

- Olafemi notes that he cannot continue to stay in the PDP which he accuses of cheating him several times

- The former acting governor says the national working committee of the party has failed to recognise his input and effort for the party despite being one of the strong members of PDP in kogi state

A former acting governor of Kogi state, Clarence Olafemi, has said he may soon defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to the injustices he has suffered in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Olafemi on Sunday, September 15, at his residence in Lokoja said he cannot continue to stay in the party which he accused of cheating him several times, Vanguard reports.

The former governor stated that the national working committee of the party had failed to recognise his input and effort for the party despite being one of the strong members of PDP in the state.

“I was the running mate to Jubril Isah in 2015 Governorship primary election of the party but we were later replaced by the party and brought in Captain Idris Wada and Yomi Awoniyi as running mate without any reason," he said.

“My Governorship aspirant in the just concluded primary of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Idris was denied of the Governorship ticket of the party by some power to be in the party and gave victory to Engr. Musa Wada because they hate Alhaji Ibrahim Idris the former governor of the state.

Olufemi said he is considering leaving the party soon due to injustices he has suffered. He however noted that he will follow due process when he decides to leave the PDP for APC.

Meanwhile, hours after the lawmaker representing Kogi west at the Senate, Dino Melaye, rejected offer by the PDP to make him the director general of campaign for the party ahead of the next governorship election in the state, ten former aspirants of the party have endorsed Musa Wada.

Tribune reports that the former governorship aspirants led by former governor of the state, Idris Wada, on Friday, September 13, unanimously adopted Wada and pledged to work for his victory at the poll.
