Premier League giants Arsenal have been hit with a blow after confirming that striker Alexandre Lacazette is injured and will be out of action until October.

The Gunners stated on their website that the France international has been playing for weeks with the injury and will now need some weeks to rest.

Lacazette has already scored two goals this season for Arsenal and he is now expected to miss the Gunners' game against Watford as well as Europa League duel with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Unai Emery will now have to deal with Gabonese striker Aubameyang who will be supported by Nicolas Pepe up front.

"After assessments to an ongoing ankle issue, we have advised that Alex will need to rest and strengthen his ankle to regain full fitness.

"Alex has been playing through this injury for several weeks. He is likely to be back in action in October,'' Arsenal explained on their website.

Arsenal are currently occupying fifth position on the Premier League standings with seven points after four games.
