The police command in Ekiti have arrested two Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) students who were said to have been involved in the attack of the convoy of Bisi Fayemi, the wife of Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Moreover, the police commissioner in the state, Asuquo Amba, revealed that at least two rifles seized from policemen during the attack have been recovered, adding that two officers were wounded and a van belonging to the command was burnt, The Guardian reports.
Speaking to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, September 13, Amba said: “Two persons have been arrested and one of them had confessed to the commission of the crime.
“When a crime is committed, we don’t fold our arms and watch. Even a civilian can effect arrest if a crime is committed in front of him and hand the suspect over to the police.
“It is sad that police are being attacked by criminals and the civilians whom we are protecting are also attacking our people.
“We won’t rest until the perpetrators of this dastardly attack are arrested and brought to justice.”
