- David De Gea's contract at Man United will expire at the end of this season
- The Spaniard joined the Red Devils from Atletico Madrid in 2011
- United boss Solskjaer has expressed desires for the keeper to stay at Old Trafford
David De Gea's deal at Manchester United will expire at the end of the current European League season next summer.
The Spaniard joined the Red Devils from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and has been impressive for the club since he became their number one.
However, his stay at Old Trafford is gradually winding down with his contract expiring next year June and he has not reached new agreement with the club.
Meanwhile, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes the 29-year-old will sign new long term deal at the club.
Man United must ensure they find a way to extend his stay before January as he could sign a pre-contract with another club and eventually walk out of Old Trafford next summer.
De Gea is pushing to become one of the top earners at the club as he will only sign a deal around £350,000 per week.
Solskjaer said "I want David to stay here.

"He knows that and he's the best goalkeeper in the world, we've seen that over the years and I hope I can make sure he'll finish his career at Man United at the highest level.
"And there have been loads of talks, lots of discussions between David and the club and hopefully we can get it done."
Meanwhile, Man United legend Edwin Van der Sar urges that the Red Devils not be afraid to look elsewhere if their no.1 does not wish to commit.
“The decision needs to come at a certain point," Van der Sar said. “It takes a long time now, so it’s a case of ‘yes’ or ‘no’, but I’m not a director of United.
“Other goalkeepers can also fill the gap. There are a few Premier League goalkeepers playing at the club who can also take the step up. I was 34 when I went to United. So there are lots of opportunities there.”
Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United return to Premier League action this weekend when they welcome Leicester City to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have struggled so far this campaign - winning just one of their first four matches as they currently occupy eighth position with five points on the log.
However, their woes may have been compounded as three of their key players reportedly returned to camp with series of injuries after joining their national teams for the FIFA break.
