Ohanaeze youths congratulate Buhari, advise Atiku to accept defeat

- Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide congratulated Buhari on his victory at the presidential election tribunal

- The Igbo youth group advised Atiku to concede defeat instead of appealing the judgement at the Supreme Court

- According to the Ohanaeze youths, Buhari's victory will guarantee the southeast's 2023 presidential ambition

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has advised Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections to accept defeat.

Legit.ng notes that the youth group's statement follows the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress at the presidential election tribunal where Atiku and the PDP had challenged the president's victory.

According to Vanguard, Ohanaeze youths noted that President Buhari’s victory is the shortest route for the southeast to achieve its 2023 presidential ambition.

Speaking through its president general, Mazi okechukwu Isiguzoro, the group congratulated President Buhari and asked Atiku to concede defeat instead of appealing the tribunal's decision at the Supreme Court.

“We accept this validation of President Buhari’s mandate as the shortest route to have an Igbo man succeed him as President in 2023.

“It’s historic that during the 2003 Presidential campaign when General Muhammadu Buhari was the flag bearer of ANPP with late Senator Chuba Okadigbo, Buhari came to Umuahia during the 2003 ANPP gubernatorial flag off campaign of Chief Enyinnaya Abaribe, and said” I’m destined to be the man that will handover to an Igbo man as President”, 20 years later by 2023, the prophecy is sure to be accomplished," the statement by Ohanaeze youths reads in part.

The youth group further advised President Buhari 'reward' the southeast more infrastructural projects and empowerment programmes so as to gain more popularity in the zone.

“President Muhammadu Buhari should give massive projects and empowerment to the southeast as a prompt response to some few Igbo detractors who erroneously see him as a tribalistic leader who hates Igbo.

“He should reward the southeast with projects and we urge Igbo to work towards getting Nigeria president of Igbo stock in 2023 by being less critic of him. It’s time to genuinely build bridges ahead of 2023," the youths said.

In a similar development, the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) commended members of the presidential election petition tribunal for dismissing the petition against the election of President Buhari.

The BMO in a statement signed by its chairman, Niyi Akinsiju, and secretary, Cassidy Madueke, in Abuja on Wednesday, September 11, said “this is proof that the justices are men of honour”.

The organisation added that it was expecting nothing less than the outright dismissal of the petition like the panel members did.

The organisation urged opposition elements who claimed to be awaiting the tribunal verdict before recognising the president to keep their promise.
