- Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to apologise to Nigerians
- Mohammed said that the PDP and Atiku Abubakar owe Nigerians apologies for trying to distract federal government with petitions against President Muhammadu Buhari
- The minister also said that instead of thinking of appealing its case at the Supreme Court, the PDP should join hands with Nigerians to move the country forward
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to tender an apology to Nigerians for trying to distract the federal government with legal actions against President Muhammadu Buhari.
Lai Mohammed said that Nigerians are the multiple lawsuits from the PDP and Atiku and wish that the opposition join hands with the federal government to move Nigeria to the next level.
The minister said that instead of accusing the judiciary of incompetence and the miscarriage of justice, the PDP and Atiku should be grateful that they were not prosecuted for presenting forged evidence at the tribunal, Channels TV reports.
He said: ”It is intriguing that a party that trumpets the rule of law at every turn will present, in open court, evidence it claimed to have obtained by hacking into a supposed INEC server.
"Don’t they realize this is a criminal act for which they are liable? Instead of threatening to head to the Supreme Court, driven more by ego than commonsense, they should be sorry for allowing desperation to overwhelm their sense of reasoning. Enough is enough."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the PDP had rejected the final judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal that favoured President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as provocative and an assault on the integrity of Nigeria's judiciary.
The PDP, on its official Twitter page, on Wednesday, September 11, expressed shock that the tribunal ruled in favour of President Buhari despite alleged evidence that he submitted false documents in preparation for the last presidential election.
