Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has sent his congratulations to President Muhammadu Buhari over his win at the election tribunal on Wednesday, September 11.
In addition to that, he praised the tribunal’s ruling as he wished Buhari a smooth second term administration in office.
The governor in a statement by Muhammed Onogwu, his chief press secretary, said the judiciary has again proved itself in the upholding of the nation’s democracy.
Bello also used the opportunity to appreciate the president for the road construction in his state, asking Buhari to direct all concerned contractors to begin their works with immediate effect.
He also said that he would back all the programmes and policies by the Buhari-led administration.
A part of the statement read: “The judiciary has again proved itself strong in the protection of democracy and the rule of law in Nigeria. I have never entertained any iota of doubt about today’s outcome because it was clear that Nigerians voted overwhelmingly to re-elect the president. President Muhammadu Buhari is a man of the people and a peace-loving statesman.
“We appreciate the president for granting us 6 out of the 11 concrete roads approved in Executive Order 6 and slated for construction under a tax benefit arrangement with some private entities, but we still called on the president to direct the contractors to immediately start construction or reconstruction of all the selected roads.”
