Lionel Messi has reportedly been contacted to play in the MLS next season by David Beckham's new side Inter Miami.

Beckham's side will begin their campaign in the 2020 season and the former England international is looking to land the Barcelona star in their first season..

According to Spanish radio host based in Barcelona Xavi Campos, Beckham has discussed with Messi in a bid to play in the United States if he leaves the Camp Nou at the end of the season.

Beckham revealed earlier in the year he would be interested in bringing Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to the MLS.

Messi was recently linked with leaving Barcelona after President Josep Bartomeu opened up about details in his contract at the Camp Nou.
