- Rochas Okorocha has alleged that he was treated badly by his party leadership
- The former governor of Imo state he made a lot of sacrifices for the APC in the south east region
- According to Okorocha, he was hated by his people because of his involvement with the ruling party
The past governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, has again condemned the treatment meted to him by his party - the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Nation reports.
Okorocha, who is currently representing Imo West senatorial district at the ninth Senate while speaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, September 10, said he was hated by his people because of his involvement with the ruling party.
“Unlike other governors from the north that rode on the name Muhammadu Buhari to power, the name Buhari had a negative effect on my campaign for second term."
“But I was determined to overcome that because I knew what we stand to gain. But today, the same party says they are suspending me,” Okorocha said.
The former governor said despite all his sacrifices to the party, he was repaid with evil in the south east region by the APC.
Stating that no government or governor who has served in Imo state can beat his records of achievement, Okorocha said he still remains a member of the APC despite facts that the ruling party might go into extinction at the end of President Muhammadu Buhari's tenure.
“If anything, the party repaid me evil for good. There was no challenge I did not face or bad name I was not called in my state," the former governor said.
“They brought in people who fought me when I was building the party at state level to fight me over the control of the party. I don’t want to talk about it but my party did not treat me well," he added.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the administration of the present governor of Imo state, Emeka Ihedioha, had ordered the arrest of Okorocha.
Ihedioha in a statement by the secretary to the state government, Uche Onyeaguocha, said Okorocha assaulted an official of the state.
