Nigeria’s U-23 side, Dream Team VII, qualified for AFCON U-23 in Egypt on Tuesday, September 10, after thrashing their Sudanese counterpart 5-0 (5-1 aggregate) at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

The encounter which was the reverse fixture of the final qualifying rounds, saw Nigeria come out smoking from kick-off to lead 3-0 going into the break.

Kelechi Nwakali, Lazarus, Sunusi and Captain Okechukwu were all involved as the goal handed the Olympic Eagles a good start.

In the 26th minute, Ndifreke netted the second goal of the match to see Nigeria lead 2-0, with 19 minutes of play left in the first half.

Olabiran forced a save from the Sudanese goalkeeper in the 40th minute, but four minutes later, Ndifreke netted again, to see Nigeria goal into the first half break with a 3-0 advantage.

After the restart, Nigeria scored two more goals to claim a resounding 5-0 win to reach AFCON U-23 in Egypt.

In the 66th minute, Sunday Faleye nodded home in Nigeria's 4th goal of the match, moments after Nwakali was booked for a foul in the 65th minute.

Despite other chances to increase the goal advantage, the Dream Team held on their 5-0 win at the blast of the final whistle.

The results will see Nigeria battle seven other AFCON U-23 qualifiers in Egypt, for a spot in the male football event of the Summer Olympics Tokyo 2020.
