Guinea exited the the African Cup of Nations in the round of 16 after suffering a 3-0 defeat in the hands of eventual tournament winners, Algeria.
The country's FA has since drawn a long list of potential candidates to replace the Belgian, with Ranieri emerging the most high profile name on the list.
Last season, Ranieri plied between Fulham and Roma, with the latter affording him a 12-game stint following the exit of Eusebio Di Francesco.
However, despite managing a last gasp 2-1 win over Parma in Roma's final match of the season, the Italian manager could not seal a Champions League slot for the Serie A giants.
A similar scenario was witnessed at Craven Cottage where the 67-year-old failed to contribute to a successful fight against Fulham's relegation.
But should he land the Guinea job, he could be afforded the chance to reignite his managerial spark even as the west African side seek to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
Legit.ng had earlier reported that Premier League campaigners Fulham sacked their manager Claudio Ranieri just after 106 days of appointing the former Leicester City gaffer as boss.
The 67-year-old Italian football manager was fired at Fulham due to poor performances which left the club at the bottom of the table in the Premier League.
