Nigeria's unity will be achieved if we can unite against 3 key things - Sultan

- Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, has revealed three things Nigeria needs to succeed

- The monarch identified demons, extremism and crime as three major things hindering Nigeria's progress and unity

- Abubakar, however, urged all Nigerians to wake up and speak in one voice to fight the menace

Unless Nigerians come together to fight demons, extremists and criminals from the system, the anticipated peace and unity might continue to elude the country.

Daily Trust reports that the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, made the statement on Monday, September 9, while delivering 2019 Ulefunta festival public lecture at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), the Ondo state capital.

Legit.ng gathered that the monarch said it is the responsibility of all Nigerians to come together to fight the menace, flush it out of the system and make the good ones continue to live their lives according to their dictate.

The monarch who was received by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, was invited to the state by the Deji of Akureland, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, to deliver the public lecture.

Speaking on the incessant kidnapping and killings in the country, the sultan said he accepted to deliver the lecture because of the security challenges facing the nation.

Earlier in his message, Akeredolu urged Nigerians to look beyond their religious differences and give importance to the unity of this country.

He said: “Hausa and our people have lived together for very long time. When we have one or two security problems, I’m of the opinion that they are not with those who have been living with us.

“They are with those who are just strangers. Even those living with us don’t know them. Those living with us are peaceful and they have become part of us. Unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable.”
