Nigerian-American Rick Famuyiwa is one of Nollywood's finest directors

Rick Famuyiwa is one of many Nigerians in the diaspora making great progress in the American motion picture industry.

Born on Friday, June 18, 1973, the Nigerian-American is a very promising Hollywood writer and director who has directed iconic movies like Talk to Me (2007), The Wood (1999), and Brown Sugar (2002).

He was most known for his 2010 comedy movie, Our Family Wedding, which had popular casts like Whitaker and America Ferrari.

It should be noted that the Famuyiwa's films explores themes of self-validation and acceptance, diversity in race, marriage, among several others.

The Nigerian-American had two nominations for Outstanding Motion Picture from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

The film expert was once the director for the popular sci-fi movie, The Flash, where he moved from to oversee the adaption of Children of Blood and Bone, authored by Tomi Adeyemi.

His themes could not be removed from his upbringing in Inglewood, Los Angeles, a place very known for his racial dynamics.

He graduated from the University of Southern California where he bagged a BA in cinematic arts film & television production and cinematic arts critical students.

Famuyiwa also believes in making African Americans a big and very respected part of the cinema industry.
