- Alex Iwobi joined Everton from Arsenal in a five year deal this summer
- Former Gunners player Nwankwo Kanu believes the move was wrong on the path of the club
- Iwobi has scored two goals in three appearances for Everton since his move in August
Former Super Eagles captain Kanu Nwankwo believes Arsenal were wrong to allow Nigeria international Alex Iwobi join Everton on transfer deadline day.
The 23-year-old winger sealed a five year deal valued around €30 million with the Toffees and has already scored two goals for his new side.
Iwobi's last goal for the Gunners was his superb volley in the final of their Europa League final defeat to Chelsea in Azerbaijan.
Kanu, while speaking with Goal.com said: "I would say they made a mistake, 100 per cent. Why they let him go, I don't know.
"He's a boy who, in and out, is Arsenal. He always wanted to do his best for the club. He loves the club, but not only that he can play football.
"What he brings week in, week out, the fans need to appreciate that.
"I think he is still young and those are the type of people you want in the team, people who grew up here, who knows everything about the club and wants to die for the club.
"He was one of them, so for us to lose him and to let him go, was a shock. I couldn't really believe we did it, but that's football."

The two time Premier League winner also said he would have urged the youngster to remain at the Emirates Stadium if he had been contacted before agreeing to the deal.
Kanu also admitted he would have advised Iwobi to remain in north London had he been asked by his compatriot.
"It was a surprise to everybody because it happened right at the end of the window,' said Kanu. 'If I knew earlier, I could have said to him not to go and that it was better for him to stay.
"I would have said that there was no need for him to go because at Arsenal he will still play. He's that good and he needs to know that.
"I think Arsenal would have been the best place for him because it's a big club and you want to play in a big club and in Europe. Those are the games you want to play."
Iwobi scored 15 goals and 27 assists in 149 appearances in all competitions during his four year reign with the Gunners' first team.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Everton claimed their second Premier League win of the season when they edged visiting Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 at the Goodison Park.
A Richalison's brace and one goal from Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi powered the Toffees to victory in that encounter.
However, Marco Silva has singled out the Super Eagles winger and Fabian Delph for praises after the match - saying they gave their best all through the meetings.
