Xenophobia: Zambia cancels Bafana friendly over 'security concerns'

- Xenophobia tension in South Africa has prompted Zambia to pull out of their friendly match against Bafana Bafana billed to hold this weekend

- FAZ cited the xenophobic violence in Mzansi as ground for the cancellation

With reports of Xenophobic attack still generating a huge concern across Africa, Zambia have pulled out of the friendly match against the South African national team on Saturday, September 7, citing security concerns as grounds for the decision.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) felt it would be better to cancel the match due to the violent unrest in Gauteng this week.

FAZ released a statement on Tuesday night, stating that the match would no go ahead as planned at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Sport24 reports that the Zambian football association said the "prevailing security concerns" in Mzansi were the reasons for its decision.

Meanwhile, emerging reports have indicated that Madagascar have been billed to replace Zambia in the friendly match following the 2012 AFCON winning country's decision to back down.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that Samson Siasia has appealed the life ban handed to him by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in Switzerland.

The former Super Eagles handler was banned by FIFA for his involvement in match fixing scandal and he was not given a fair hearing to defend himself for the allegations leveled against him.

Siasia's mum is currently being held hostage by kidnappers and they are demanding a ransom fee of N50million.
