Godwin Maduka: US-based medical doctor donates high court complex to Anambra state

A United States- based Nigerian medical doctor who hails from Umuchukwu in Orumba south local government area of Anambra, Godwin Maduka, has donated a high court complex to the state government.

Having bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1984 from Rust College and a degree as a medical doctor from Mercer University College of Health Sciences in 1988, Maduka completed his internship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Godwin Maduka completed his residency and post-graduate training at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Howtocribs reports.

Known for his philanthropic gestures in his native community, he specialises in anesthesiology, chronic, acute and interventional pain management.

Even more, Maduka has built both primary and secondary schools, a healthcare centre, a police station, churches, civic centre, village hall, including a palace for the Igwe of the community.

Maduka revealed that his wish is to enrich Orumba with social amenities and infrastructures that will make life easy for natives and residents of the community.

He added that the building and donation of the judiciary complex were inspired by his dream to bring justice nearer to the lay man.

Expressing gratitude to Maduka, the chief judge of the state, Justice Ijem Onwuamegbu, said: “We immensely want to thank and appreciate the donor, Dr Godwin Maduka, while I use this medium to call on other privileged sons and daughters of the state to emulate him in building such human oriented projects for the development of our dear state and Nigeria at large."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Nigerian students and young professionals across the country were set to partake in the fifth edition of a nuclear technologies competition in Russia.

The initiative which is an annual online video competition is the brainchild of ROSATOM - Russia's state-run nuclear energy corporation.
