Maurizio Sarri who is the current manager of Italian champions Juventus has been diagnosed with pneumonia and he could miss his first game in charge of the Old Lady in Serie A.

According to the report on UK Sun, the former Chelsea manager has been down since last week and missed his side's pre-season friendly win against Triestina.

Sarri last season while at Chelsea made sure the Blues qualified for the 2019/20 Champions League and also won the Europa League title beating Arsenal in the final.

Juventus however confirmed the latest development about Maurizio Sarri and he is now on the verge of missing the Serie A opener against Parma on Saturday, August 24.

“Maurizio Sarri, after having observed rest over the weekend, was at the JTC Continassa today where he coordinated the work of his staff.

“Unfortunately, he could not conduct the training on the field due to the persistence of his flu, which struck him over the course of last week.

“In the late afternoon, he underwent further tests that confirmed he has pneumonia, for which specific therapy has been prescribed.

“The Coach has authorized the club to communicate his state of health,'' Juventus said in a statement on their website.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri revealed that he is ready to stop smoking after being quizzed on the subject by journalists.
